Introduction

A humidifier is exactly what it sounds like, it is a device made to introduce humidity into your environment. Essentially your environment will become healthier and your house will be in less danger from the dry air. Dry air tends to negatively affect furniture, cabinets and even upholstery by causing cracks in it. If you find this is happening within your home then it is probably a good time to purchase a humidifier. But the question that lingers in the back of your mind at this point, is what type of humidifier should you purchase?

Honeywell

Honeywell is a well known manufacturer of humidifiers, and they have been manufacturing items related to HVAC for over a hundred years. They start out making heaters and eventually progressed to making thermostats, one of which is in the Smithsonian right now. Later on they created weapons for the defense department and these days they make humidifiers, altimeters, and just about anything related to technology. There was even a time that they had a computing department, though they ended up selling it.

Honeywell Cool Mist Humidifier

A Honeywell cool mist humidifier is exactly what it sounds like. It is the exact opposite of a warm mist humidifier in that the mist it sprays out is cold instead of hot. Whether you get a cold or a hot is really a matter of personal preference and should normally be based upon the advice of your physician. There are some people who don’t do well breathing in hot air, and if you have trouble breathing in a sauna then you would likely do well with a cool mist humidifier. It is still best to ask your physician however since they probably know you better than you know yourself.

A few of the different models available include:

Honeywell HCM645 4 Gallon Cool Mist Humidifier
Honeywell HCM-1000 3 Gallon Cool Mist Humidifier
HCM-890
HUT102 Cool Mist Ultrasonic Humidifier Tower

Choosing among these models is a matter of personal preference. They will all do the same thing though some will hold more than others, or some will come with more options. In order to make a decision you need to figure out what you can afford and then you need to decide what kind of features you want. It’s not a hard decision to make, but in spite of that you do need to sit down and think about it before you rush out and buy something that you may not like.

Price

These humidifiers are relatively cheap and you’ll be able to get your hands on one for about $30-$40 depending on where you go to get it. Don’t shop too cheap however, you need to beware of cheap imitations that simply aren’t up to par with the real thing. Such things unfortunately happen a lot and the only way you can make sure that you get a quality product is to always buy Honeywell products.

Where to Buy

You can buy these just about anywhere, whether it be online, at a store, or at a garage sale. It’s best to make sure that you have a warranty though because even though you’re always careful around your equipment, accidents can and probably will happen. Good luck in your search for a decent humidifier, and may you always breathe clean air.
